Craft Beer & Pizza, Who Could Resist?

Wednesday, October 14th, 2015

Those crafty folks at Craft Films put together this terrific wedding video for Molly & Brendan at Hotel Del Coronado, and we were so psyched to see both of our cakes (the super elegant wedding cake AND the DEEP DISH PIZZA CAKE and BEER GLASS CAKE for Brendan…too much fun!)

Beautifully Coordinated by Paige Jensen of Bliss Events, the evening flowed with seamless grace & fabulous fun!

We’re in the Press!

We love helping our clients plan for their wedding, so when they’re wedding is especially unique and incorporates their culture, we get even more excited to cater to their wishes.  This was exactly the case for a recent Indian wedding of ours.  For this special couple, we made a cake with a traditional Mendhi (Indian) design in red icing on fondant.  The flavor: a delicious citrus cake with passion fruit curd and lemon butter cream!

Besides being delicious, the cake fit perfectly with the couple’s Indian-themed wedding day.  The day also gave us the opportunity for a fun photo shoot, complete with elephants and elegance!  To see more of these images, check out the following magazines, which will feature the wedding in upcoming issues:

27 stories of butter cream!

WOW! Leave it to Jacqueline Foster at Wayne Foster Entertainment to design & set up a STUNNING black tie event in a crystal clear tent on the beach of Coronado’s Silver Strand. What a gorgeous display of celebration! Happy Birthday Leo!…the developer of Little Italy’s Allegro Towers celebrated his 85th in style.

Lining up a killer team with Darin Fong Photography to capture all of the memories, they installed an incredible backdrop for our recreation of the buildings. We were thrilled and flattered to have been asked to build this structure out of vanilla with strawberry butter cream and blackout chocolate with hazelnut butter cream…and YIKES, that’s a lot of details!

:: 27 stories on the tower (with balconies!)

:: Rite Aid Pharmacy at the corner of Ash & Kettner

:: Craft & Commerce restaurant on Beech St.

:: Rooftop Pool & Jacuzzi with bougainvillea trellises

:: Signature Neon light

:: Windows, road signs, streets, & foliage

Our amazing decor team led by Jessica Pickens, with Kaitlynn on sub-contracting, Zach on balconies & signage, and Elaine as the landscape architect…great fun! Here is our gang prior to delivery. Lots of work pays off in pride. Thanks to the very hard work and perfect baking of the Sweet Cheeks Baking team, this gang was able to create a super awesome AND DELICIOUS cake for Leo’s birthday.

"Team Building"

Double Feature

Happy Easter! This week we’re featuring not one, but TWO fabulous cake designs.

Here are a few shots from the rowing club oar that we did for UC Irvine’s crew teams. They had a Vanilla Chiffon cake with Belgian Chocolate Whipped filling throughout the oar. The team loved the fact that passers-by kept making double-takes, not sure if it was a real oar and wondering why it was on a table with a knife. The team mates were really great and were so appreciative. We hope to work for kids like this all the time!

This bottle of Dom was a gift for a fine young gent’s girlfriend to be eaten (because it’s made of poured sugar, not glass) in the Hard Rock Hotel suite he’d gotten for her birthday party, super cool! The ice bucket is the cake; the glasses are also made of sugar and hold champagne themselves. Charity George, our cake decorator/designer is a master now with the sugar! Go girl!
