Real Wedding :: Briana + Steve

Friday, September 20th, 2013

The phrase goes: “like father, like son,” yet for this real wedding feature, we challenge that idiom.

To start, backtrack a few years.  It was the wedding of Cheyne (pronounced like Shane) + Megan, and let’s just say: it was a huge deal!  The couple had just won the “Amazing Race” together, and as a result, their wedding was a media frenzy!  (We even made it to PEOPLE Magazine online as a result, but that’s not the point!)

Well, back to present day, and with the coolest of situations, Cheyne’s dad, Steve, who loved what we’d done for his son’s big day, came back to us to help him celebrate his own wedding to the gorgeous Briana! Are you still following us?!  Like son, like father; challenge successful! 🙂

Like his son’s wedding, Steve (+ Briana) opted for a tiered cupcake tower.  A variety of flavors and a colorful selection of cupcake wrappers made this tower the pertfect accent for their very colorful wedding.  Their celebration was poolside, and the focus was all about laid-back fun!  Abbey Party Rentals supplied the perfect style of tables and linens, and Wedding Paper Divas created adorable table art and wooden plaques.   Pair those elements with the decadent candy table and our cupcakes, and guests had their share of sugar!

Everything about this wedding was bright and fun but at the same time elegant.  Briana wore a stunning lace bridal gown from Isis Bridal Boutique, which was paired with tasteful gold and pearls from Harold Steven’s Jewelers.  Steve, in honor os his time in the military, wore his “dress blues,” complete with his impressive lineup of military medals of recognition.  Together, Briana + Steve are a beautiful and inspiring couple.  They radiate so much love & friendship.  It was an honor to be a part of this family’s special day, yet again, and it was so much fun!

Pretty Pastels at La Jolla Cove Suites

Monday, September 16th, 2013

La Jolla Cove has some of the best ocean views that San Diego has to offer. So, when a couple chooses to have their wedding in La Jolla,  La Jolla Cove Suites offers some amazing wedding options for the Cove-loving couple.

The cake was filled with beautiful pastel yellows, which was just darling, and the couple, too, was darling as well!

Real Wedding :: Cherie + Cameron

Monday, September 9th, 2013

San Diego is the perfect place for a destination wedding, and for the couple featured in this REAL wedding, San Diego was an easy choice!  Cherie and Cameron are both New Yorkers, and they wanted the San Diego sun to be their backdrop for their beautiful nuptials!

Their wedding took place on a perfect San Diego summer day (no humidity like there is now!).  The gorgeous waterfront Bahia Resort Hotel hosted and catered.  Appropriately enough, the couple’s theme was nautical. Lots of blues, yellows and whites, and every element perfectly coordinated with the couple’s sea-loving theme. They were married outside, with the water behind them and palm trees giving the illusion of their own, private outdoor oasis.

Being as the couple was not local, they relied on communicating with wedding vendors via email and over the phone, so for Cherie and Cameron it was important to find wedding vendors they could trust. Fortunately, when it came to the cake, they had us!  We were pretty stoked about how it turned out, and the couple was too! Anchors aweigh!

Bringing the Sea to the Wedding

Wednesday, September 4th, 2013

The wedding location may have been Inland San Diego (Rancho Bernardo Inn), but the wedding cake was all about the sea.   Nature-loving/ocean-loving couple, Sharon & Tim King, chose to have a seaside-themed wedding cake for their big day, and we could not have been more thrilled about how the cake turned out!

Seaside Wedding Cake

Made of citrus with passion fruit curd & raspberry preserves, Italian butter cream with smoothed/beveled edges, and chocolate with white chocolate-raspberry mousse & Belgian chocolate ganache, the cake ingredients may sound complex, but really, they were perfectly paired!  That combination of flavors is a personal favorite of mine, in fact.

Special thanks to the amazing photographs by San Diego photographer, Resolusean (Sean Capshaw), the seaside cake and the happy memories from the cake cutting were perfectly captured.

Sharon + Tim were a super fun couple to work with, and their lovely relaxed nature & great sense of humor made this experience another positive one for the books!
