Some Like It Sweet

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

Donna Cellere, masterful baking machine, works her “day job” at Sweet Cheeks Baking Co. but doubles as a mop head model. We’ve felt that her fixation with the “thick blonde” look has gotten out of hand, so we are using it to our advantage and hiring her out as a combined Cupcake Maker/Specialty Dancer for upcoming events. If you have not had the pleasure of getting to the true side of my business partner Donna, you clearly have not spent enough time visiting the Sweet Cheeks Baking Co. kitchens at the end of a long work week…check her out! Marilyn, eat your heart out!

Double Feature

Happy Easter! This week we’re featuring not one, but TWO fabulous cake designs.

Here are a few shots from the rowing club oar that we did for UC Irvine’s crew teams. They had a Vanilla Chiffon cake with Belgian Chocolate Whipped filling throughout the oar. The team loved the fact that passers-by kept making double-takes, not sure if it was a real oar and wondering why it was on a table with a knife. The team mates were really great and were so appreciative. We hope to work for kids like this all the time!

This bottle of Dom was a gift for a fine young gent’s girlfriend to be eaten (because it’s made of poured sugar, not glass) in the Hard Rock Hotel suite he’d gotten for her birthday party, super cool! The ice bucket is the cake; the glasses are also made of sugar and hold champagne themselves. Charity George, our cake decorator/designer is a master now with the sugar! Go girl!
